The Artist: Hi, I'm Gemma. And this is me. Yes, I mean this is literally a drawing of me. I love to draw with pencil and I love to draw faces. I also love to sew and I love to embroider my drawings onto canvas.

The Process: This canvas embroidery was created by hand using a technique called freemotion embroidery. I start with a pencil drawing which I then transfer onto canvas. I then use my sewing machine like a pencil and stitch over the lines. I essentially draw with my sewing machine. The result is unique and original embroidery of fine lines and delicate detail. I then add an extra element with pencil, crayon and or paint.
